History
About me
Hi, I'm Joana Franco, founder of HG Studio. I'm 34 years old, married, and the mother of two children. It was through sewing and embroidery that I discovered my professional and personal purpose, transforming a long-held passion into a lifelong project.
My journey began in 2015 as a medical assistant. Later, I worked as a real estate manager at SOPIMENTA from 2016 to 2019. However, it was during a training course on "Regional Embroidery of Viana do Castelo," which I had the opportunity to teach in 2017-2018, that I rediscovered my passion for crafts. This experience marked the beginning of my journey into this creative world.
With the birth of my first child in 2019, I decided to dedicate myself to craftsmanship, creating unique and personalized pieces, such as layettes, towels, and clothing for babies and children. In 2023, my second child was born, and with him came new strength and motivation. This special moment propelled me to take another important step: opening a physical store, a space where I can share my work more closely and create a direct connection with customers.

"The HG studio combines tradition and innovation, creating personalized items and promoting Portuguese craftsmanship with ambitions for sustainable expansion and international reach in the coming years."

The motivation of the project
The HG atelier was born from the desire to combine passion and talent. Over the years, I identified a growing demand for personalized, quality and exclusive products, which gave me the confidence to make sewing and embroidery the center of my professional career.
The birth of my second child was the catalyst for the growth of the project. With this new motivation, I decided to open the physical store, a space that reflects the essence of the studio and allows me to bring my work to a wider audience, creating a direct bridge between craftsmanship and those who value this type of piece.
The work developed at the HG studio
At HG atelier, unique pieces are created, made with love and attention to detail. The work focuses on personalized items for special occasions, tailor-made clothing and exclusive embroidery, adapted to the needs of the clients.
This is a job that requires dedication, creativity and perfection in every detail, valuing the tradition of Portuguese embroidery while responding to the demands of the current market.
Over the next five years, the goal is to take the brand to international fairs, promoting the value of Portuguese crafts. In addition, the studio intends to continue growing sustainably, creating new jobs and ensuring a diversified and constant production throughout the year.
The HG atelier is the realization of a dream. Each piece tells a story and reflects the essence of true craftsmanship: attention, dedication and the soul put into each creation.
